Birthday Reflection

A bonus blog on my birthday weekend…..Every year I look back on the year that past and enjoy the moments. And get really excited about the year to come! So much happens in a year. And I realize it goes fast….but we also never spend a minute to enjoy and really look at  the year. Otherwise, it just feels like one big jumbled memory in the day to day.

How do you document your memories to really enjoy them? Pictures? journaling?

I read a great quote the other day in my happiness book:

  • “Happiness is right here, right now– as in the 1908 play by Maurice Marterlinck, The Blue Bird, in which two children spend a year searching the world for the Blue Bird of Happiness, only to find it waiting for them when they finally returned home.”

My goal is to wake up and realize the present. The moments that are so amazing in life. The laughter and funny moments. The joy in the small and big things. So that I have those memories my entire life even as people move on in life. I still have the joy of the person or moment.

My goal in this 38th year….a year I think will be a wonderful one. I have never felt more loved and more in the moment….so I think I’m growing in more than just age:

  • My goal: Aim to live so that I don’t look back, at the end of my life or after some great catastrophe, and think “How happy I was then, if only I’d realized it!” Instead I want to embrace my 38th year with wisdom, appreciation, and memorizing/soaking up every moment.

Time to keep living!! Happy birth year to me!faling-in-love-wtih-being-alive
